Invest in a custom-fit cover
Keep your gadget covered! Like a lot of things in the home, your die-cutting machine can gather dust if it’s not being used for a long period of time. Having a storage container or a case can go a long way to preventing dust and fibres from building up. You can even get covers with pockets at the sides which are great for storing tools, and some come with a handle for easy transportation.
Extend the life of your plates
Taking care of your machine’s cutting plates is essential and they benefit from a regular scrub in soapy water to remove paper fibres and dust. Once clean, pop them into a protective storage case. You should also regularly rotate and flip your cutting plates and use the whole surface – don’t cut in the exact same spot every time. This makes them last so much longer and ensures you get the most out of your plates before they need replacing.
Choose a material suitable for your machine
Most die-cutting machines can cut out paper and cardstock. However, depending on your machine's specifications, they can also cut out materials such as fabric, vellum, felt and vinyl.
