Can you remember the thrill of being asked to be a bridesmaid? This whitework pattern will hopefully bring back the memory of that special day, plus it’s a chance to practise your white ink tracing.

JUDITH’S TOP TIP To create a fine line, hold your pen almost upright so only the tip of the nib is touching the parchment. To avoid blots, always clean out your nib before dipping back into the ink. Try to leave your work to rest for a day before going back to lightly emboss again.

You will need

Your basic tool kit plus:

Pergamano

Bold diagonal grid Bold 1-needle perforating tool

Plus

Plain parchment Fine mapping pen White ink Mauve card White card Four small white brads

Gridwork

Cut a piece of parchment to measure 18x24cm.

Rub the back of the parchment with a tumble dryer sheet and attach to the bold diagonal grid using low-tack tape

Create the grid border first. Perforate the pattern, then flip over to emboss. Remove the parchment from the grid.

Trace

Attach the parchment over the pattern, making sure the image fits inside the border.

With a white pencil trace the dashed lines on the hair and dress. Remove any visible pencil lines with an eraser.
