Delightfully tactile and hardwearing, a touch of velvet brings warmth and comfort into any room. For use on upholster y through to curtains, Odyssey is the latest printed velvet collection from British fabric house Linwood. The 11 new designs range from large-scale, traditional kilim-style prints, whimsical patterns featuring palm trees and exotic birds, to ombre stripes and abstract geometrics. Colours include traditional red and indigo as well as more earthy and chalky hues. For Hali (pictured), the design team took cues from a vintage kilim rug and reimagined the pattern on a distressedstyle velvet. From £99.90 per metre.

VINTAGE APPEAL

Shabby Chic designer Rachel Ashwell, has collaborated with Next on an extensive new collection of home furnishings. The iconic designer’s signature look celebrates a time-worn elegance with vintage-inspired pieces and a mix-and-match aesthetic. The range includes soft furnishings in antiqued whites, pretty prints, and softly laundered textures; furniture in reclaimed or distressed finishes; upholster y; statement lighting; rugs, and ornate mirrors. ‘These are timeless pieces that will be treasured in your home for years to come,’ says Rachel. Global influences

In 2022, two friends, both passionate about homes, decided to create an online marketplace offering a carefully curated selection of furniture, lighting and homeware designs from artisans across the globe. So Woost was born, named after a semi-mythical creature that embodies the spirit of adventure and discovery. With sustainability at the heart of the brand, it stocks makers that honour handcrafted techniques, such as the new Michiels split-glaze white and sand earthenware vases by Hemstolt, £99 for a set of two.

TABLE SERVICE

Dividing her time between Venice and London, cooking writer Skye McAlpine has designed a new pretty tableware collection, crafted in Italy for her eponymous brand. Suitable for both everyday use or celebrations, the hand-dipped Laguna range features scalloped edges and shell patterns. East meets west
