LASTING STEPS

Interior designer Laura Stephens and Rug Studio, Bombay Sprout, have joined forces to create a bespoke collection of handwoven jute rugs that celebrates colour and pattern with playful, decorative borders. Within the capsule collection are five statement designs in three sizes crafted by artisans in Northern India, with each recyclable and biodegradable rug taking up to 12 weeks to produce. The core principle of this collection is the combination of beauty and practicality. ‘As our houses are full of friends and family, nothing can be too precious. Our aspiration with this collection was to ensure that our rugs were beautiful, practical, and durable,’ says Laura.

LIGHT THE WAY

From Laura Ashley’s SS24 lighting collection, the Harrington wall light in black, £79, is a contemporary take on a classic, lantern-style wall sconce. The curved design blends glass with matt black metal and looks striking against a floral wallpaper backdrop. Use to light an entrance or add ambience to a dark corner of a room.

All the frills

Emerging homeware brand Imogen Pope is one to watch. The designer’s dainty lampshades, trimmed with a pretty frill, have already caught the eye of Soho House and other interior influencers. The shades bring texture, pattern and a cheerful touch to a room. ‘Lampshades make a space so cosy. They are also brilliant for layering, and for bringing in pattern-on-pattern so that stripes, florals and checks can all sit happily together,’ says Imogen. Handcrafted in London and made to order, the lampshades come in various patterns, from wide stripes to cheery ginghams and traditional florals in pretty heritage hues. Prices start from £80.

ARTISAN PAPERS

Nature inspires the debut collection of wallpaper by interior designer Nicola Harding – from intertwined oak tree branches to scalloped leaves, floral prints and fresh foliage. The six designs feature subtle repeat patterns, and a gentle and cohesive colour palette pulls them together – names include Rose Pink, Moss Green and Mushroom. Made by a workshop in Leicestershire on FSC-certified paper using water-based inks and traditional artisan printing techniques, the papers cost £150 per roll.
