Wildlife photos require excellent fieldcraft and a fast, responsive camera. The EOS R7 is the ideal choice with highly advanced subject tracking AF and super-fast shooting rates at 15fps with a mechanical shutter. The EOS R7 includes custom buttons and shooting modes to simplify switching autofocus settings for static and moving wildlife subjects. The EOS R10 has similar performance and would be a great lower-cost alternative. Use large capacity high speed cards to maximise the number of frames you can capture in a sequence, which is especially important when using silent electronic shutter mode to maximise the continuous shooting speeds.
Canon-fit lenses
There are several Canon RF lenses suited to wildlife, the affordable, compact, lightweight fixed focal length RF 600mm F11 and RF 800mm F11 lenses, or for closer subjects the RF 100-400mm F5.6-8 IS lens is highly recommended (and only £650) with a crop sensor camera like the EOS R7. The higher spec, more expensive Canon RF 100-500mm F4.5-7.1L IS USM is ideal for full-frame EOS R5 and R6 cameras. Make sure to use a lens hood in rainy conditions to stop rain landing on the front element.
