Deadly consequences

Stacy Feldman found out the truth and the countdown began…

It was 6.20am when Stacy Feldman received an email that would turn her entire world upside down.

The message from a stranger contained information that she couldn’t ignore and the mum of two picked up the phone and made a call.

By the end of the day, Stacy, 45, was dead. As the plot closely unravelled, the quest to bring her killer to justice, would last years.

It was March 2015, Stacy lived in Denver, Colorado, with her husband Robert, and their two children, too.

The couple had been married 10 years earlier.

Everyone said that nurturing Stacy was born to be a mum and she was so much fun with her two children.

With her big blue eyes, warm smile and great sense of humour, Stacy was the life of the party.

But police were alerted to a tragedy on 1 March 2015, when Robert called 911.

He said that he’d come home and found his wife unresponsive in the bath, with the water still running. He’d pulled her out and had started CPR.

Robert had picked up his kids from Sunday school and had taken them a carnival and when they’d returned, Stacy was badly injured in the bathroom.

It looked as though she had taken a shower and had slipped.

Paramedics rushed to the scene, but Stacy couldn’t be saved. The mum was dead.

Robert told emergency services a few theories about what might have happened that day.

He mentioned that she’d eaten edible marijuana the night before at a party, along with wine, and had been feeling ill. It could have made her slip.

Robert also suggested that she might have had a possible medical condition that would have made her collapse.

What had happened while they were out?

With so many unanswered questions, police were surprised when Robert was reluctant for an autopsy. Didn’t he want to know what had killed his wife?

There was very little water outside of the bath, too, which those on the scene found unusual.

How had Stacy been pulled out of the bath without sending water on the floor? An autopsy went ahead. Stacy had injuries on her body, but it was concluded that they had been caused from the fall or from being dragged out of the bath that day.

And while it didn’t look as though Robert had conducted CPR before she arrived like he’d claimed, the paramedics had, which can cause bruising.

There was no sign of marijuana in the system.

Stacy’s death was classified as ‘undetermined’.

Her family were unhappy at the lack of answers. Stacy had died in the shower, but nobody knew why.

Meanwhile, Robert then collected a $750,000 insurance life insurance policy that he’d taken out five years earlier.
