Spot of tea

Did you know that you can raise money for BBC Children In Need by hosting your very own spotty tea party? From baking cakes to serving a classic cuppa, it’s a great way to bring everyone together and donate to a good cause.

To bring your tea party to life, follow these tips from Claire Hoyle, director of income, marketing and communications at BBC Children in Need.

Why not get crafty and create a spot-acular invitation inspired by Pudsey’s spotty bandana? Don’t forget to include the time, date and location of your tea party! Make sure to ask your guests if they have any dietary requirements, too.

Match your tea party theme and any colours from your spot-acular invitations with your decorations – they make a party feel like a party!

Think about balloons, plates, napkins, teacups and saucers – charity shops are a great place to source teacups and cake stands. Just look out for anything spotty to match the occasion.

It could be simple sandwiches, nibbles and sweet treats – you could even choose spottythemed food, too.

If you’re stuck for time, grab some ready-made cupcakes from the supermarket and pop some smarties on them… no one will ever know!

Make sure to offer your guests different drink options, including tea, coffee or hot chocolate. We know Pudsey would love a tea with a hint of honey to make his experience extra spot-acular! Guests might also fancy a cold drink so grab some fizzy drinks from the supermarket in case.

Make your own

If you want to try your hand at baking your own sweet treats for your Pudsey tea party, you can follow BBC Food’s fantastic recipe for creating these gorgeous Pudsey Cakes. Or, if you’re feeling a little lazy, just grab some plain cupcakes from the supermarket and follow the instructions below for creating your own Pudsey face. The decorations are the best bit anyway
