BARGAIN REAL LIFE

Dean Mayhew, 31, from North Devon, took quite a drastic step when he kept forgetting his Tesco Clubcard...

Grabbing a selection of snacks for the kids, bread and milk, I headed towards the checkout. Scanning my items, I saw the price creep up. As a dad of three, the food shop is always expensive. But with my trusty Clubcard, I knew I’d get some bargains. Pulling out my wallet, I frowned. Not again, I thought, frustrated. I’d lost my Tesco Clubcard for the hundredth time.

The small blue rectangle was always being misplaced. Reluctantly paying full price, I carried my goodies home.

‘Do you actually want that done?’ ‘Yes!’I grinned. ‘I’m not sure that’s going to work, mate,’the tattooist told me, as I described my plans.

‘Yeah, that’s definitely not going to work,’another person in the shop commented. ‘Mate, I’m not sure either,’I said. ‘At the very least it’s a good story for my grandkids.’

Finally agreeing to tattoo my card, we got to work.

Studying the barcode on my Clubcard, the tattooist intricately traced it on my arm.

Each time the needle poked my skin, I knew I was one step closer to a lifetime of bargains.

Wiping the excess ink off my forearm, it was ready – my Tesco Clubcard was now permanently on my body!

‘Let’s try it out. Now,’I said as it didn’t need to be wrapped.

Headed to the closest Tesco, my tattooist was hot on my t
