What can I plant?

You would be surprised at the wide variety of fruits, flowers and veggies that can be bedded in December. Here are just a few, we recommend planting...

Red kale: Crops don’t become much more resilient than kale – it can survive temperatures of –6o C degrees. And you don’t have to do much more than water and weed it. What’s more, kale can be harvested after just five weeks – plant now and you may be able to put your own kale on your Christmas dinner!

Garlic: You can plant garlic outdoors in December as long as the soil is well-drained. However, if you have heavy soil start your garlic off in a multi-celled tray – one clove per cell. Water them regularly and keep them in the greenhouse until spring when you can then move them outside.

Hardy cyclamens: These beautiful flowers can be sown in December. First, soak the seeds overnight and then sow in small pots. The flowers should be kept at a temperature of 13-16o C.
