Coffee fix

AThere are lots of reasons you may not feel the same effect from caffeine as your friends.

Genetics can play apart –some people simply don’t respond in the same way as others.

But if you drink alot of caffeinecontaining drinks, you’re likely to feel its effects less as time goes on. This is described as caffeine tolerance.

And if you’re sleep deprived, you may also not notice its effects in the same way.

Caffeine in moderation (up to 400mg aday –about four cups of brewed coffee or four mugs of instant coffee, or eight cups of tea) doesn’t appear to carry any health risks for most people and may actually have some health benefits.

However, there are some health risks from very high levels for some people.

If you’re pregnant, you shouldn’t have more than 200mg aday from all sources of caffeine.

Stressful symptoms

AChest pain is a really common feature of anxiety and panic attacks. If it only happens when you’re stressed, it’s highly likely that it’s not caused by a problem with your heart.

However, it is worth getting yourself checked out by your doctor to make sure your blood pressure and heart are in good shape. They can also go through any other symptoms to see if you’re having panic attacks.

If you are feeling stressed, reading selfhelp books based on the principles of CBT (a type of talking therapy) can also be helpful. You can access talking therapy on the NHS directly through the NHS website.

Some traditional herbal remedies such as Kalms Lavender have also been found to relieve mild anxiety effectively.
