COMEDIC REAL LIFE

Sarah John, 32, from Grantham, has a hubby with a very unique alter ego…

I found someone special in Lewis

Hearing laughter from the living room next door, I popped my head around the corner.

Having a laugh

My daughter Jessica, then five, and my son Jack, then eight, were glued to my phone as they listened to avoice all too familiar in our household.

‘Hello, I’m Bean… Mr. Bean!’ the voice exclaimed.

Glancing at the screen, a man dressed in atweed blazer wiggled his eyebrows.

With Jessica and Jack always watching Mr. Bean, they grew obsessed with aMr. Bean impersonator named Lewis, 27, on TikTok.

‘Mum, it’s Mr. Bean!’ Jessica exclaimed. ‘Can you say hello from me? It’s alive video.’ ‘Go on then,’ I smiled. But to me, Lewis did not look like Mr. Bean at all. He was wearing ahoodie which said ‘Bean Reborn’ on it.

Taking my phone from Jessica, I started typing in the comment section.

Hello from Jessica! I typed. And Lewis responded. Hi Jessica. Have you been good at school? he messaged. It’s actually Jessica’s mum here, I replied.

Despite Lewis then having around 2,000 followers to entertain, he kept up our chat.

Connecting on Facebook, we continued our conversation. Learning that Lewis had been aMr. Bean superfan since he was little, even meeting Rowan Atkinson when he was nine, he melted my heart.

Putting the kids to bed, Lewis and I chatted on a Facebook video call until 5am!

We kept on messaging, bonding over growing up watching Mr. Bean on TV, too.

But despite our connection, I just wasn’t looking for a relationship, having just split from Jess’ dad.

Let’s just meet up as friends?

Isuggested instead.

Meeting up afew months later at Pontins Southport Holiday Park on 3May 2019, Jess and Jack stayed with my mum Linda.

As we took our seats at the entertainment stage, Lewis seized his chance.

Despite being dressed in jeans and a T-shirt, he transformed into his alter ego.

Busting out Mr. Bean’s dance moves and chatting to the kids around us in his Mr. Bean voice, he stole the show.

He was just incredible.

From there, our friendship quickly evolved into a romance.

The next day, on 4May 2019, Lewis casually popped the big question –and I took the leap and said yes!

Our family and friends thought we were moving too fast, but Iknew that in Lewis, I’d found someone special.
