Shaur Persadh, 34, a clinical pharmacist from Croydon, is here to provide support when you need it.

Logging into my staff portal in 2019, Isaw that anew opportunity was available.

In 2019, Iwas managing aSuperdrug pharmacy in Clapham and was looking for ajob that would expand my clinical expertise.

Iwanted to be more hands on with my patients and learn more, too.

And this opportunity offered the chance to work as aGP pharmacist –arole that would allow me to spend more time with patients and serving the local community.

And this was something I really wanted to do.

Getting the job at Whitehouse Medical Practice in Croydon, Iwas part of the first batch of pharmacists to take part in the scheme.

Speaking to 15 to 20 patients aday, they were referred to me through triage or had booked themselves in –either through their GP receptionist or online.

And I treat arange of people –from those who need support in managing a long-term condition to general medical queries.

Along with abroader team of medical professionals, like physiotherapists and social prescribers –those who connect you to community-based support –we are able to get people the help they need.

If I’m supporting apatient who has diabetes, I will ask them about their home life and diet to see if anything else is affecting their condition.

Ican refer them to a dietitian if they need support managing their weight or a social provider if they need support going to the gym.

And alot of the time we get great feedback.

Recently apatient came to me
