GREGG-CELLENT REAL LIFE

Julia Boatwright, 25, from Perth, had the best idea for her daughter’s birthday...

Taking hold of my daughter’s hand, she marched through the electric doors.

And with the smell of hot pastry hitting us long before we joined the queue, Iknew she had one thing on her mind.

Or maybe two… My daughter Bella, now three, could never decide between aGreggs sausage roll or asteak bake.

‘Could Ihave acroissant and acoffee, please?’ Iasked at the till. ‘And asteak bake for Bella.’

Sat in the cafe, munching away on our treats, this was part of our morning routine.

We went to Greggs at least three times aweek and had been doing so for the past couple of years.

Bella has been Greggs biggest fan since the age of one. Aged one, I’d take her with me to drop her big sister Molly, now four, at nursery.

And leaving her big sister with her classmates, Bella would be sad about leaving her.

So in an attempt to cheer her up, Ipicked her up aflaky treat from Greggs on the way home.

Noticing that Bella would really perk up with asausage roll in her mitts, we started going more frequently – whenever Bella was sad about leaving Molly.

And Bella loved it –she’d get so excited about visiting.

‘Greggs! Greggs!’ she’d shout the second we got to the nursery playground.

And every time we went in, the staff would always say ‘hi’ to Bella which she loved.

So when Bella started nursery last year, she was quite annoyed she had to stay in the classroom and not Greggs!

So we started going after school –even throwing in a doughnut sometimes as a sweet treat.

‘What do you want for lunch?’ I’d ask at the weekends. ‘Greggs,’ she always replied. Greggs was Bella’s thing. While me, Molly and my boyfriend Kyle, 34, all liked asteak bake, Bella was the superfan of the family.

I wanted to make her birthday special
She scoffed the lot!

Which is why when it came to Bella’s third birthday on 3February this year, Ihad atruly brilliant idea.

We’d got her atoy kitchen and abook called Greg the Sausage Roll, and scrolling Amazon for more inspo, Icame across atoy food truck.

That would be cool if it was a Greggs food truck, I thought. Icould make that at home!
