SENSATIONAL SHORT HAIR

Silvina Neder, 55, from London became a hair influencer in her fifties when she learned to embrace her natural grey hair, cut into an edgy shorter style. She created her own natural haircare range, Silvina London (silvinalondon.com), after finding chemicals in other products dried out her hair.

I used to have hair down my shoulders but it was so thick and curly that it was quite difficult to manage. I love trying out new styles for my hair and adore a trip to the salon to experiment with my hair length. So, I’ve tried out lots of different shorter hair styles. But I would also bleach my hair to cover the fact it was going grey. This was a bad idea as the third or fourth time I applied the bleach my hair started falling out. So then I needed to have my hair ultra-short, about one centimetre all over, to grow the bleach out more quickly. I was seriously panicking about my hair being so short but my stylist created a gorgeous pixie cut that framed my face, shaped around my ears and tapered at the nape of my neck. It actually looked really flattering even at that very short length. My ultra-short hair was also so easy to keep looking good, especially since I was used to wrestling with unruly curls. Then, I dyed my new crop back to my original brown colour – much gentler than the bleach!
