With our climate, investing in cosy knits will never be money wasted. But maybe it’s time to step away from that comfort zone of reliable neutral jumpers that we love and cherish, and venture into the bold and brave arena of vibrant hues. Forget the much-loved wardrobe staples of black, navy, grey or camel, and instead think about adding a blast of colour. This is the kind of style dopamine hit we all need right now.

Investing in a jumper ticks so many boxes: cosy, comfortable, chic, stylish, timeless, ageless, useful. When you think about it, we probably spend more time wearing knits than we ever do in flimsy clothing. Jumpers bring a warm hug that you can always rely on.

Right now, there is a kaleidoscope of choice in the shops. All you have to do is choose what shade you love. There is plenty of scope when it comes to price, too, as this is one trend that's covered all options from the high street to highly priced designer labels and everything in between. Knit trends may come and go, but anything that possesses an element of classic longevity should still be worthy of a place in your wardrobe in twenty years. Just remember to moth proof your wardrobe or drawers.

When it came to curating these knits, it was a herculean task as the choice is so vast. I narrowed it down to three families of colour: purples and pinks; reds and oranges; and blues. But, if greens and yellows are your thing, go for it.

When it comes to finding the most flattering neckline, we all have very different needs. There are so many options alongside the classic polo, V and crew neck. Find the one that flatters your silhouette and stick with it. Oversized knits have been the ultimate fashion choice for a while, and seem to have staying power; slim-fitting fine knits are perfect for layering; off-the-shoulder knits have a magical allure; boxy and cropped jumpers perfectly complement denim; and tunic lengths sit neatly over trousers.
