Couldn’t join the 108,000 visitors to the NEC show last month? No worries, we’ve got you covered! Here are some of the highlights spotted by our team

Discovery discovered

Bailey’s second-generation Discovery range made its debut at February’s NEC Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show.

As already reported in Practical Caravan, the three-model line-up includes one new layout, the D4-4L, featuring a single side dinette that converts into a double bunk.

These models no longer come with the distinctive L-shaped air awning as an option. Instead, Bailey is offering customers an optional roll-out awning. Decals now also extend around the back of the caravan and up either side of the large central window.

Bailey is also departing from convention by only offering carpets as an optional extra. This means prices have been kept down, so that the smallest caravan in the range, the D4-2, comes in at just £19,995. baileyofbristol.co.uk

Dispensing with toilet chemicals

Show newcomer Arwinger claims its cassette separation toilet removes the need for chemicals and is easily fitted into an existing cassette toilet.

The system consists of a seat taking the place of the toilet’s upper section, which directs solid and liquid waste into a replacement cassette.

The new cassette holds up to nine litres of solid waste in a recyclable plastic bag, which you can dispose of in any bin, and 7.5 litres of liquid waste, which you can pour away down a conventional toilet.

The system, costing from £995, currently works with most Thetford circular toilets. The firm is working on new models to fit Dometic toilets.

Wisper offers cyclists a new Tailwind

Wisper Electric Bikes displayed its new Tailwind range, designed as a more robust, lighter alternative to heavier ebikes for those who occasionally venture off-road.

The line-up comprises three models: the City, a stripped-down ebike designed mainly for commuting; the Comfort, with mudguards, a rack and a stand; and the Trail, where you also get RockShox forks and Schwalbe tyres. Weighing as little as 17kg, the bikes have a range of 50-70 miles, depending on the battery you choose for your ebike.

Wisper, which has been manufacturing ebikes since 2005, already produces the Wayfarer and Traditional ranges of more conventional models. wisperbikes.com
