QWHERE CAN WE TOUR IN 2024?

We love exploring the UK and discovering new areas, but we seem to be revisiting a lot of places instead of finding new ones. What undiscovered treats can we visit in 2024?

John Douglas

Paul Critcher replies…

‘Undiscovered’ is a bit of a tall order for UK touring, but we can suggest a couple of spots you might have missed!

How about Scotland’s North East 250 (northeast250.com)? Visitors to the country are so often lured west, they forget the east has much to offer, too.

The NE250 is an established route with plenty of interest, from the coastal towns and villages of the Moray Firth, to the distilleries of Speyside, and the Cairngorms National Park. Incidentally, there are fewer midges there than in the Western Highlands!

There’s a good selection of campsites, including perennial favourite Grantown-on-Spey (caravanscotland.com).

Alternatively, the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (highweald.org) stretches across Sussex and Kent.

This quintessentially English patchwork of countryside has heath, woods and prominent towns, including Royal Tunbridge Wells and Rye. It is also home to Bodiam Castle, Battle (as in ‘of Hastings’), the Pooh Sticks Bridge and the Bluebell Railway.Among many great sites, Horam Manor Country Park (sellersleisure. com) often features in our Top 100 Sites Guide. For more ideas, see our 2024 Tour Planner (p23).

QWHY DO YOU QUOTE DELIVERY CHARGES?

Why does your Buyer’s Guide list delivery charges separately, when there is no way anyone can get out of paying them?

Don Peterson

Peter Baber replies…

While delivery fees are a tiny proportion of the overall cost of a caravan, it can be frustrating that, having stumped up the cost of the van, you then have to find another three-figure sum.

However, such fees have become fairly standard across the industry. The only major UK manufacturer to include delivery within the price is Erwin Hymer UK. And because everyone else does not, we subtract EHG UK’s delivery price from the prices of itsmodels to make our Buyer’s Guide (p96) a more level playing field.

It would be more accurate to include all delivery fees in the guide prices, but then we would meet the problem of what to do about Continental manufacturers, where delivery fees can vary.
