DON'T BE DUPED

Scams are on the rise, and sadly the classic car world has its fair share of miscreants. The Morris Minor Owners' Club's Mike Dean got in touch with us to say: ‘Some of our members who are advertising their cars online have been approached to advertise in the MMOC magazine for a fiver. Bots scour the internet searching for keywords, then humans call up people selling cars, to promote a £5 'special offer'. It seems like a lot of trouble to go to for a fiver, but the scammers want card details so they can raid bank accounts. We know of people who have been taken in as it's all very plausible, even though it's free for members to advertise in the magazine. Fall foul and you'll probably have to set up a new bank account, so never give your account details out over the phone.’

T2 fans set for German jaunt

The 2007 Bus Festival has gone down in history among VW camper fans, for its scale and variety, and on June 23-25 next year, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is aiming to put on a weekend that's every bit as good. The 2023 Bus Festival is expected to attract 100,000 enthusiasts from all around the world, and upwards of 6000 vehicles, from the Type 1 right through to the modern equivalents. Prices start at just 29 euros to camp for the whole weekend, and although the organisers are yet to spell out exactly what will be taking place during the festival, it'll be a mixture of music, food, exhibitions and more wide-ranging entertainment. Throughout December, The Motorist near Leeds has car events taking place four days each week, including a Santa's grotto for the kids. The same venue will also be running a Coffee & Cars meet on New Year's Day 2023.

January 1 is going to be a busy day for lots of venues, with Brooklands holding its usual extravaganza; 1500 cars usually turn up. The East Anglia Transport Museum will also be opening its doors, as will the Cotswold Classic Car Club, which bases its gatherings at its clubhouse in Shipton Oliffe and usually spills over into the grounds of The Frogmill next door. At the time of writing, the Classic Hub at Bibury had yet to decide whether its annual New Year's Day meet would take place.
