This month’s rummage through the brambles and barns of Britain

Danny says

‘Every now and again we get sent a truly stunning find and this is one of them. It exemplifies the appeal of a true barn find. The romance and potential of decay.'

Daimler – Docker Hooper Style

A stash in the Cambridgeshire countryside, spotted by Benjamin Thorndyke. The forward lights recessed into the front wings suggest ‘Docker Daimler’ heritage, specials built as motor show exhibits on Hooper chassis, but we can’t identify this actual model.

Jowett Javelin

For some reason people never want to throw a used Jowett Javelin away. A handsome car to this day, but this one found in a hedge (location not disclosed) by Robert Broad may never see the road, unless it gets serious attention.

Enfield 8000

A lone survivor alongside the Docker Daimler below, this super-rare Enfield 8000 (1961-71) is one of 108 UK-built cars but the British public weren’t quite ready for electric commuting in those days, especially with an asking price nearly three times the price of a Mini.

Citroën 2CV Limo and Bond 875

Even more rarities outside; a stretched limo Citroën 2CV with a Bond 875 behind, the latter with only a couple of dozen remaining of its 3431 run (1965-70). This collector has a serious penchant for the sublime, and we applaud him for that!

Hustler 6

Yet another super-rare oddity, this Hustler 6 shares the Daimler's barn. The wedge design was by William Towns with two Mini subframe assemblies and plywood and solid wood frame and body. This one has survived well.

Porsche 928

It’s not often you spot an early Porsche 928 while walking the dog, but that’s what happened to Ian Mynott in the Faversham area of Kent. Someone seems to have started work on it and maybe given up.

Rover SD1 3500 Vitesse

Excusing the wing mirror belonging to Adam Ferndown in Dorset, he snapped a Rover SD1 3500 Vitesse that hasn’t moved in many years. It’s rotten as a pear, but holds itself together quite well (apart from the front bumper falling off).
