Great British marque to celebrate centenary at NMM

If you're an MG fan, you'll be pleased to hear that, although the end of the 2023 classic car season is rushing headlong towards us, there's still time to celebrate this great British marque's centenary at the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu, on September 30.

The day is being put on by the Home Counties South region of the MG Owners' Club, and one of those behind it all is Chris Adamson. He told us: ‘We've had a fantastic response from club members so far, with cars set to come from all over the south of the UK. All ages of MG are welcome at MG100, from pre-war J-Types and Midgets, through the massed ranks of T-Series, MGAs, MGCs, MGBs and Magnettes, to modern classics such as the RV8 and MGF.

‘The first 100 cars through the gates will receive a limited-edition commemorative linen tote bag and the first 200 will be given a centenary commemorative windscreen sticker and a mug. There will be a ‘Car of the Day’ competition voted on by fellow MG owners and members of the public, with prizes in three categories: Pre1960, 1960 to 1995, and 1995 to 2023. There will be a special prize for the car that receives the most overall votes. As well as a colourful array of MGs the event will feature a centenary timeline, dedicated MGOC Club displays and trade stands.’

MGs of all ages will be taking pride of place.
Will you be attending?

The centenary event takes place two weeks after the opening of a new exhibition at the National Motor Museum, which will run until January 6, 2024. Called ‘In Focus: The Magic of the Marque – 100 years of MG’, the exhibition will chart the history of the company and its cars.

There are still lots more events to come at Beaulieu this season, including the International Autojumble (September 2-3), Simply French (September 10) and Simply BMW (September 17), as well as Simply British Classics (September 24) and Simply Smart (November 12). You can buy tickets for all of these, plus the MG100 event, at beaulieu.co.uk.
