A model club

Clubs are having to add value like never before, to keep members interested, and the Rover P6 Club has come up with acorker; acomplete supplement on the history of the P6 Corgi model. The club's editor Alan Francis told us: ‘I was chatting to afriend with ahuge Corgi model car collection, and it transpired that he could help with adefinitive article on the subject of P6 Corgi scale models. Before we knew it, there was enough material for agenerously illustrated 20- page full-colour A4 supplement that has gone out to members as an additional benefit of membership.

‘The initiative has been such asuccess that the plan is to come up with free supplements each year, on awide range of topics.’ More info at p6club.com.

120 YEARS OF HISTORY

F ounded in 1902, the Lancashire Automobile Club is the second oldest motor club in the UK, and this year it's marking the 120th anniversary of one of its landmark events: the Kendal 100. Club vice chairman Chris Lee told us: ‘The original run was a 100-mile reliability trial from Whalley to Kendal and back, but we've revived the route as a non-competitive road run open to cars of all ages. Last year's event was well supported and this year we're doing it again on June 23 – but this time running the opposite way, going north to Kendal via Dolphinholme and Tewitfield, then using the original route to return.’ A video of last year's event is at tinyurl. com/mvvwfutw and there's much more about the road runs and other events that the club is putting on this year, at lancsautoclub.com.
