2001 Suzuki TL1000S

Owner: Mark Samson

Owned for: eight years

So far: full stripdown, big bore

What’s next: carbon wheels

At the moment my TL1000S is in a fair few piles of parts while I’m fitting a big bore kit. I am adding to the already plentiful stomp of the bigV-twin with barrels and JE pistons to take it to 1080cc.

This is my second TL and until I got stuck into it, the only modification had been a clear clutch cover. I do most of the work myself and I have a great mate, Iain Dawson atTrentside Motorcycles for help.

Right now, my engine cases are being vapour blasted byVapourworx Swadlincote. I also have a set of Rotobox carbon fibre wheels coming from BikeTorque Racing.

Clear clutch covers... can someone please explain?

1995 Kawasaki ZXR750 L3

Owner: James Masters

Owned for: four years

So far: full refurb and paint

What’s next: good to go for now

Last year I did a quick winter restoration of my ZXR750 L3. I part-exchanged a dog of a Yamaha FZS600 for what I thought was a beauty of a ZXR, but soon discovered I exchanged a dog for another dog. The bike is a year older than me and I didn’t know much about them.

The engine was refurbished by Sangha Race and Restoration, who discovered it had an undercut super-finished kit gearbox fitted. The carbs were set up by a friend as it was running super lean. I then had it dyno tuned for good measure.

Not what you’d call a dog now. Not at all

2001 Suzuki GSX-R1000

Owner: Malcolm Harris

Owned for: 15 years

So far: made lighter and faster

What’s next: modified swingarm

I bumped into Mark Graham at Wiscombe Park hill climb, he suggested I send a pic of my GSX-R1000. Since I bought it in 2007, I’ve been steadily changing it to my taste.

It currently features OZ Racing five-spoke Penta wheels, Brembo Serie Oro discs and a Brembo 19mm master cylinder. I had the Tokico four-pot calipers rebuilt by Powerhouse in Chesterfield. JHS in Bristol rebuilt the forks, and fitted the Power Commander V and set it up on the dyno (154.4bhp at the wheel). I fitted titanium Arata SES rearsets and a Maxton shock. JHS also did the suspension set-up.

Positively festooned with good bits – all in the right places; wheels and suspension
Old school Spondon, with one of their very first single-sided swingarms. A thing of great beauty
Soon to be clad in RGV500 bodywork, with some Skoal Bandit paint. Kinda nice as it is, though
