Rob Reed’s pre-Magenta band rework their second album for November release.

Widely recognised as one of the busiest people in prog,Magenta’s Rob Reed has returned to his side-project, Cyan to overhaul the band’s 1994 album, Pictures From The Other Side. Originally released as a solo endeavour, the new version has been completely reworked from the ground up to include whole new arrangements and instrumentation.

It will be released via Tigermoth Records on November 17. Accompanying the CD will be a bonus DVD of the album in a 5.1 surround mix and a live acoustic performance video.

The album comes after the 2021 re-recording of Cyan’s debut album, For King And Country and features the same line-up of Peter Jones (vocals), Luke Machin (guitar), Dan Nelson (bass), Tim Robinson (drums), singer Angharad Brinn, and Reed on keyboards.

“The original one was done with such a basic set-up,”says Reed.“It was all done on an eight-track cassette and drum machines, but now I’ve got the best studio in the world and I’ve learned all the lessons over the years. The songs were always really good and they were written with such innocence, but I’ve completely rewritten the whole album. It was really nice to go back to the songs, see what worked and didn’t, so you can get a second bite at it and make it even better with all the production ideas.”
