Discovering
Bella Union, as it now is, began life by accident. Initially created to release the music of its owners, Cocteau Twins, the band broke up soon after. Now at a loose end, bassist/ keyboardist Simon Raymonde signed Warren Ellis’ Dirty Three and John Grant’s The Czars and the rest is history! Then followed Midlake, Explosions In The Sky and Beach House, which lead in turn to Fleet Foxes, The Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev, Spiritualized and many others.
The label continues to develop young artists like Pom Poko and Penelope Isles while continuing to build with veterans like BC Camplight and Destroyer.
