Haken bring epic show back home

The prog metal band will play Fauna in full and acareer-spanning set each night of tour.

Brits Haken will bring their special ‘An Evening With’ shows to the UK and Europe this autumn. Having debuted the show concept in the USA earlier this year, they’re set unleash their “indescribable and indulgent” extravaganza in some of the biggest venues they’ve ever headlined. The band will perform two sets each night – playing their latest album, Fauna in its entirety, followed by a career-spanning showcase.

Starting in Helsinki on September 4 and wrapping in Lyon 15 days later, the 18-date tour takes the band across 13 countries. There are also two UK dates, at The Ritz in Manchester (20) and London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town (21).

Fauna, the band’s seventh studio album, was released last year to critical acclaim and guitarist Charlie Griffiths believes its diversity makes it the ideal record to play in full on the tour.

“To me, Fauna is almost like an encapsulation of Haken up to this point,” he says. “It touches on everything we’ve done previously and tightens it up. So it feels like a good representation of who we are, and it all makes for a really good show.”

While Griffiths hints at some “special surprises” for the Fauna set’s climax, he also points out that getting ready for “three hours of Haken riffs” was no easy feat.
