Walk on the wild side

England s lost rainforests will become an eco-priority under a new Government strategy to protect these wildlife-rich sites.

Plans include more research into temperate rainforests, and seven landscape recovery sites , plus action to tackle invasive rhododendron species and pressure from grazing deer and sheep.

It follows a campaign by environmentalist Guy Shrubsole to educate the public about these ancient woodlands, which are globally rare and can help with carbon capture.

It’s been astaple part of Korean diets for centuries. And, now, kimchi has been proven to be asuperfood, after scientists found it may prevent middle-aged spread. A study of 115,726 Koreans aged 40–69 of varying BMIs found eating one to three portions daily cut the risk of obesity by 11 per cent, as part of a balanced diet. Regular kimchi eaters also carried significantly less fat around the waistline.
