DOES ‘CHARLIE’ HOLD THE KEY TO WHAT HAPPENED DURING ONE OF THE USA’S MOST INFAMOUS KILLINGS? TWO VETERAN PROFESSIONALS WHO WORKED ON THE OJ SIMPSON CASE HAVE COME FORWARD WITH A COMPELLING ARGUMENT FOR AN UNTAPPED WITNESS

Since the “not guilty” verdict left the lips of jury forewoman Amanda Cooley on 3 October 1995, clearing Orenthal James ‘OJ’ Simpson of the murder of his exwife Nicole Brown Simpson and waiter Ronald Goldman, generations of sleuths have debated: did the jury make a mistake? Did Simpson get away with murder? The public still loves to speculate on the case, which was compounded by accusations of police corruption and mounting racial tension. The deaths remain unsolved. Simpson is innocent in the eyes of the law, but someone out there knows what happened the night of 12 June 1994. In January 2017, a series released by Quest Red unveiled a new theory. Is OJ Innocent: The Missing Evidence suggested the idea that if Simpson did kill Nicole and Ronald that night, then he must have had an accomplice. In the series, private investigator William Dear, who has more than 50 years of experience in his field, expressed his certainty that Simpson has kept quiet about someone else being there that night. Dear thinks that someone is OJ’s son, Jason. Veteran Rhode Island cop Derrick Levasseur and forensic psychologist Kris Mohandie, who reviewed Dear’s investigation on the show, came to an agreement themselves. They theorised that discovering the identity of the mysterious ‘Charlie’ – the person OJ later claimed could have been with him that night – might be the way to crack the case.

CHASING ANSWERS

The murders of Ronald and Nicole were an American travesty that gave way to ‘the biggest murder trial of the century’, with the decorated former football star and sports broadcaster at the centre of it all. The victims’ bodies were discovered in front of Nicole’s Brentwood condo on South Bundy Drive, California. The once pale stone pavement was stained crimson with blood, and the beautiful mother of Simpson’s two youngest children lay in a heap at the bottom of the steps leading to her doorway. Ronald’s body was slouched up against her white picket fence. It was a gory slaying, and Nicole’s ex-husband immediately became a suspect and was ordered by police to turn himself in. Instead, Simpson led the LAPD on a low speed 60-mile chase through California, threatening to shoot himself.
