La Mancha, Spain

My brother-in-law, Nigel Megson, and I undertook a 2800-mile tour of Spain and Portugal. We had the pleasure of visiting the region of La Mancha and saw the windmills made famous in the classic novel Don Quixote. They were very impressive and probably the highlight of our trip.

Tignes, France

I covered 2650 miles on a recent trip to the French Alps. This is near Tignes - absolutely stunning. I followed one of RiDE’s routes and couldn’t fault it.

Arnhem, Netherlands

I visited Arnhem Bridge during a 1700-mile trip round Europe. This was my must-visit, for my dad visited most years for the Operation Market Garden anniversary.

Sweden

I recently spent two weeks in Scandinavia on a KTM 390 Adventure – in the main using gravel roads – travelling north through Sweden and returning via central Norway. Nights were spent wild camping or in the free-to-use forest shelters. The bike performed faultlessly and felt perfect for such a trip.

Hoghton Tower, Lancashire

Pre-Sunday-roast ride, over the West Pennine Moors and up the amazing straight half-mile drive to the stunning Hoghton Tower in Lancashire. This 12th century manor house is steeped in history and a nice stopping point for a brew with a view.
