SUZUKI’S GSX-S1000GX TALL-ROUNDER is already a hugely popular motorcycle.

Combining the long-legged riding position of an adventure bike with the power and grip of its GSX-S1000GT sibling – and brimming with tech – it’s easy to see how it has already become one of 2024’s top-sellers.

The engine is a masterpiece

The GSX-R1000-derived lump is one of the best engines of the past 20 years. The throttle increases power in a linear, joyous way and builds to a 150bhp crescendo. That’s a lot for a tall-rounder (33bhp more than a Tracer 9) and it makes itself known in the upper half of the rev range, augmented by a sweet quickshifter. It’s the perfect sports-touring engine – easy-going at low rpm, but quick when you need it.

It’s just sooo sophisticated

In fact, it’s the most sophisticated Suzuki ever. The usual array of angle-sensitive rider-aids, all work unobtrusively. But the new semi-active suspension is the main draw: as well as the on-the-fly damping options, it has superb automatic preload adjustment and a self-levelling facility when you’re hauling pillion and luggage. There’s also a marked change in the bike’s character as you go through the settings.
