Hello ever yone and welcome to spring. The start of a new season always seems like the perfect time to tick off some jobs on the household to-do list. For my wife Gill and me, that’s meant updating our wills, something the government recommends we all do every five years. All kinds of things can change in life: moving house, new grandchildren, charities you wish to support, or new executors to appoint. I must admit we hadn’t looked at our wills for a lot longer than five years, but our springtime resolution gave me the perfect opportunity to use Saga’s new will-writing service.

Our research among Saga customers showed that only a quarter of you were reviewing your wills every five years, so at least Gill and I were in good company! As part of the service, we were able to talk things through with a highly knowledgeable advisor, which we found very helpful. If you have been meaning to sort out your will – or you’re among the 54% of the population who don’t have one at all – I would really recommend checking this out.

Earlier this year, I was able to give Saga’s Trading Update to the City for the second half of the year. We have made good progress, with a significant increase in revenue and underlying profit more than double that of the previous year. Between Cruise and Travel, we’ve taken 120,000 passengers on holiday this year, which is outstanding – and we are welcoming record numbers so far for 2024/5. Insurance continues to be a challenging sector, as it is for most in the industry. But the overall picture is that we have a strong brand, loyal customers, and robust and exciting plans for growth across all Saga’s businesses – including this wonderful magazine.
