Fareast 42C

Until recently Fareast yachts was best known for producing sporty one design yachts. The company also recently hit the headlines having won production rights for the Laser class. Anyway, the 42C signals a change of tack as the boat conspicuously has two hulls. The 42C is built in China and designed by Simonis Voogdt. While the design and layout look modern but relatively conventional, the boat boasts pioneering electric or hybrid propulsion options with the full electric propulsion option promising a range of 100 miles at full power.

Enksail Orion 49

Hardcore YouTube fans may still be enjoying Distant Shores. This was the pioneering series presented by Paul and Sheryl Shard that blazed the trail for young upstarts such as Sailing La Vagabonde to take up the baton and sail with it. Their new boat is a custom job aimed at sailing the high latitudes. She is built by Dutch aluminium boatbuilding specialists Enksail and looks like a serious bluewater boat with a swing keel, pilot house and tough aluminium hull. The result is a boat that suggests the Shards are bound for the high latitudes.

Grand Soleil 72

Italian manufacturer Grand Soleil has been moving up through the size brackets in recent years and its new 72 is its biggest yacht yet. Like all the boats in the range, it is primarily designed as a fast cruiser, blending style with good performance and easy handling. Obviously, being 72ft, everything is just being done on a larger scale and the result is a boat that is extremely luxurious with plenty of space down below. She is designed by Matteo Polli who has a fine reputation for ORC and IRC championship-winning boats, so expect performance to be strong.
