3 WAYS TO… reduce cosmetic waste

1. DON’T GO LARGE Beauty products can ‘go off’. Always check the expiry date, and only buy as much as you need so you don’t end up throwing unused creams, lotions – and packaging – away.

2. GIVE IT AWAY If you have toiletries that are within their expiry date but that you know you won’t use, donate them to charity – toiletriesamnesty.org has 75 donation points in the UK.

3. MAKE THE SWITCH Opt for brands that use minimal or environmentally friendlier packaging. The plastic hand pumps used on soap bottles aren’t easy to recycle; switching to soap bars or using refillable products are changes that can make a difference.
