CREATE A HEALTHY, SUSTAINABLE SANCTUARY

A ROYAL CELEBRATION

‘It wouldn’t be a proper celebration without special crockery to mark the event. When you buy a commemorative mug or teapot, you will be joining in with a long-lived tradition; British potteries have been making wares for great occasions for at least 400 years.’

Emma Bridgewater, ceramics designer

3 Cheers teapot, £80 (emmabridge water.co.uk)
The King cushion cover, £29.99 (claire-louise.co.uk)
Half pint mug, £23 (emma bridgewater.co.uk)
Charles Rex coasters, £15.53 for four (redbubble.co.uk)

New ways with plants

TRY AN INDOOR TREE Indoor trees are statement pieces that work in the corner of a room, reaching up to the ceiling, with leaves that stretch into the space. Try a weeping fig (ficus benjamina), with its slender trunk and full canopy, olive trees, parlour palms (chamaedorea elegans) or a fiddle-leaf fig (ficus lyrata). They’re a great way of adding interest, and easier than you think to look after. Try hortology.co.uk and patchplants.com for a selection.

GROUP THERAPY Why have one, when you can have many? A group of house plants of different textures and heights adds something special to your space. Group together in room corners or around fireplaces, or stack on bookshelves to create a unique display with your favourites. We love a cluster of monsteras, peace lilies and ferns for impact.
