I’ve been struggling to adjust to becoming an empty nester, after my only child left for university in September last year. I thought they’d be living on Pot Noodle and pizzas, but they’ve gained a real love of cooking and, at Christmas, they ploughed through all my back issues of the magazine and took photographs of recipes to try out. Now, when a new issue comes out, I share the recipes – February’s veg and tofu spicy noodles were a big hit.

SOWING SEEDS

I was gifted a large trug a few years ago and bought all the books and tried to grow far too many things in it – I’m an all-or-nothing person. Not surprisingly, nothing grew very well. Now I’ve read ‘Ready, set, grow’ (March), I am eager to try again, but will start small and not get too ambitious. I also fancy growing my ‘morning cuppa’ (camomile) so may need to invest in a new pot for the patio. There I go again…

HORMONE HELP

As a woman approaching 50, who is trying everything I can to stay fit and healthy, I was extremely grateful for your article ‘Help your hormones’ (February) as it had excellent pointers for any woman. The section most applicable to me was the advice on perimenopause… I found the research into plant-based isoflavones interesting and hope they can bring this to market to help women reduce the length and severity of their hot flushes.
