GIVE FAT A CHANCE

Low-fat foods aren’t always the healthiest. In fact, science suggests that eating certain fats gives our heart and brain health a boost. But which fats are best? The key, say experts, is to get fats from whole foods. Eat walnuts and oil-rich fish like salmon and mackerel for their heartand-brain-friendly omega- 3s, and drizzle salads with the king of ‘good’ fats, olive oil – research has found that regular consumption reduces our risk of heart disease.

A plethora of studies shows that a diet rich in fruits, vegetables and whole grains can reduce chronic pain associated with musculoskeletal conditions; a US study also found that rheumatoid arthritis patients who ate plant-based meals reported a reduction in joint pain.
