SeaAngler REVIEW

Railblaza produce some of the most versatile boat accessories available. Tim Macpherson takes a look at the HEXX range which provides a host of useful accessories for boats and kayaks that help anglers to organise their kit

One of the most important bits of kit we use, whether on a kayak or a boat, is the fishfinder and Railblaza have a range of products specifically designed to mount fishfinders and accessories. Quite often boaters like to have fishfinders mounted in places where they can see the readout, or want a second unit mounted on the transom or elsewhere. Similarly, kayakers need to have their unit mounted in a visible position but out of the way of rods and tackle boxes. The Hexx range is designed to address this.

THE HEXX ROTATING PLATFORM

This gadget is solid, lightweight and removable and takes fishfinders up to around 5kg – it’s also compatible with most of the major electronics manufacturers including Raymarine, Garmin, Humminbird and Lowrance. What they call the HEXX base design provides 90 degree base and platform rotation. It’s made from UV stabilised engineering polymer for strength and weather resistance. It includes stainless hardware for an easy set up and its compact footprint means it fits into the tightest of spaces. Like all Railblaza products it’s easy to remove so you can keep exposed products secure and out of the weather when you’re not using them.

FISHFINDER MOUNT

This is a lighter weight mount – removable like the larger rotating mount. Taking units up to 3kg with 3.5m size screens, it also has a base design with 90 degree platform and base rotation and a 180 degree tilt range. This axis of adjustment allows the most complex and tightest fishfinder mounting locations. This one is ideal for kayaks where space is more limited and will take most major electronics products. It is also made from UV stabilised engineering polymer for strength and weather resistance.

ROD HOLDER

This is a very popular product in the Hexx range. It fixes anywhere on the gunnel and can be used with the largest trolling loads and resists the biggest strikes. It has a rolling collar and rear gimble lock which is fully adjustable. It’s fully adjustable with 90 degree round and vertical movement to allow you to set up the rod in the ideal position whether that is high or horizontal. We’ve used these extensively and they’ve proved versatile, allowing you to keep your rod
