The June 2023 issue of Ships Monthly is out now, and is packed with all the usual news and outstanding articles and features. NEWS Waterfront – Le Commandant Charcot visits Solent, Holland America’s 150 years, DFDS converts to battery power, and Stolt adds tankers.. Baja-bound – On board two of the ferries working the long crossings of the Sea of Cortez, which are operated by Baja Ferries. Across the Minch – A look back at 50 years of ferry services from Ullapool across the North Minch to Stornoway, a key part of Cal Mac’s Scottish west coast network. Battle of North Cape – Revisiting the last action fought between capital ships in European Waters, the Battle of North Cape, which took place in December 1943. Captain Danny Lynch – Tribute to Captain Danny Lyncha respected tug master from Newport, and recollections of a trip out from Newport in Wales to see a famous Clan liner. Maritime Mosaic – The Port of Vancouver, on the west coast of Canada, attracts a wide variety of vessels, as illustrated in this pictorial. SAS Protea – The career of the Hecla class hydrographic survey vessel SAS Protea, which marked half a century of service with the South African Navy in May 2022.
