■ DMC Natura XL Just Cotton (100% cotton, 100g/75m) 6 balls of Yarn A pink (43) 4 balls of each:

Yarn B yellow (09) Yarn C blue (07) 2 balls of Yarn D cream (03)

■ A 6mm (US J/10) hook

Graphic colourwork has never been so simple! Using only square motifs and a few tassels, you can create this on-trend throw.

NOTES

Blanket is made up of 48 Squares, which are sewn together. There is a Chart on page 81 which you can refer to when joining Squares. When working a Two-Tone Square, the yarn is fastened off at the end of each round. Work over yarn tails to reduce the number of ends you need to weave in.

GRAPHIC BLANKET PLAIN SQUARES (MAKE 12)

Using Yarn A, ch5 and ss in last ch from hook to form a loop.

Round 1 (RS) Ch2 (counts as tr throughout), 2tr in loop, ch2, (3tr in loop, ch2) 3 times, ss to top of beg ch-2. [12 sts, 4 ch-2 sps] Round 2 (RS) Ch2, *tr in each st to ch-2 sp, (2tr, ch2, 2tr) in ch-sp; rep from * around, ss to top of beg ch-2. [28 sts, 4 ch-2 sps] Round 3 As Round 2. [44 sts, 4 ch-2 sps] Round 4 Ch1 (does not count as st throughout),
*dc in each st to ch-2 sp, (2dc, ch2, 2dc) in ch-sp; rep from * around, ss to beg dc.

[60 sts, 4 ch-2 sps] Fasten off.

TWO-TONE SQUARES (MAKE 36)

Make 6 using Yarn A and Yarn B. Make 12 using Yarn A and Yarn D. Make 18 using Yarn B and Yarn C. Using first colour, ch5 and ss in last ch to form a loop.

Round 1 (RS) Ch2 (counts as tr throughout), 2tr in loop, ch2, 3tr in loop, ch2, change to second colour, (3tr in loop, ch2) twice, ss to top of beg ch-3. [12 sts, 4 ch-2 sps] Fasten off.

Join first colour in final ch-sp.
