DOWN ON THE FARM

I was very taken with the Farm Playset (Issue 235) but don’t have any little people who would enjoy it. I do, however, knit cot blankets for charity and decided to adapt the squares. My first attempt was a mono colour blanket which I decided to do in one piece rather than in squares to save the dreaded sewing up. To increase the level of difficulty, I also added a cable strip at either end. Not sure what I was thinking there as it seemed straightforward… After much pulling back and muttering, I finally finished it. The next two, I knitted in strips and the blankets were finished in far less time. The pattern squares make my knitting much more interesting – thank you for such a versatile pattern. I haven’t actually made a farm playset, but it’s certainly been put to good use and has raised funds for a very worthy cause.

MINDFUL KNIT

This is a Jean Greenhowe pattern – I love to adapt them, so no two dolls are the same. I knit because I love it and it helps my mental health – a good thing in my books.

Jane Elyss

It’s a good thing in our books too, Jane!

Nothing better than a relaxing knit.

MOTHER AND SON

My lovely grandma taught me to knit when I was about seven. I like Beatrix Potter™, especially Peter Rabbit™ and this pattern caught my eye. It took about two weeks to make and it’ll be entered in our local village show in September – I have had a first prize in the past, so let’s see how this does!

Do let us know if your sweet knitted duo wins Best in Show, Yvonne!

A RIGHT ROYAL CUPPA

I thought you might like to see my Coronation Tea Cosy from issue 237. Tea Cosy Folk patterns are always easy and fun to knit and brighten up the house! I changed the colours slightly, something a knitter tends to do as we all have different views on what colours suit better. The tea cosy took a couple of days to knit as I knit in the evening after work (while watching the television). I have knitted quite a few tea cosies, most are from Tea Cosy Folk, and mainly from Simply Knitting. I’m just about to cast on the ice cream seller cosy from issue 239.

Lynn Douglas

Wow Lynn, we hope you enjoy knitting your next cosy as much as this one!
