COASTAL COSIES

I picked up crocheting during the pandemic and wanted to start knitting as well, but no pattern had struck me – then I glimpsed the octopus tea cosy on the cover of issue 226 of Simply Knitting! As a coastal dweller with more than their fair share of loose leaf tea, the pattern (and the subsequent coastal-themed tea cosies) couldn’t have been more of a perfect start to learning. My only problem now is where to store them all (and my growing stash!). Thanks for sharing the patterns, they’ve been great fun to make! I’ve also knitted a bunch of other things, and created some of my own (Star Wars influenced) accessories. I’m pleased to say I’ve also managed to make several pairs of socks, and recently finished a jumper – and I’m already looking for what I can cast on next!

You must have a natural talent for crafting to have mastered knitting so quickly – socks, Fair Isle and designing your own patterns in under a year – we’re very impressed!

PLAITED PAIR

Lori works in a pressured environment and knits to relax

I knitted Jane Burns’ Kids’ Pirate jumper (from issue 213) for my three-year-old niece. She loves it, and has to wear her hair in plaits to match her jumper.

Lori Cox

The thought of your niece wearing this with her hair in plaits is just too cute!

GIRL’S BEST FRIEND

It may have been from a festive issue, but this design is the height of fashion all year round

Just finished! From issue 191 of Simply Knitting, the Zigzag Jumper. I loved this pattern as soon as I saw it and though it took me a while to get around to making it, I’m very pleased with the result.

You should be pleased, it’s fantastic!

A WALK IN THE WOODS

Find this pattern in issue 235Pat Menchini’s pattern features braided cables

Here’s a picture of my hubby in his completed sweater, pattern by Pat Menchini. Thanks for this pattern, and all the men’s sweater patterns – not all magazines feature men’s patterns so I really appreciate that you do…so does my hubby! I opted to do the pattern in the Winter Sky shade of the suggested yarn (King Cole Homespun DK), and I think you’ll agree it’s a great pattern for this colourway. This pattern (and the yarn) were lovely to knit up, I like a cable pattern.

Sheena Cartledge

We’re so glad to hear that, we love to read feedback about our designs. Maybe your hubby would like Pat Menchini’s latest cable numb
