STAR LETTER
KAL COMMITMENT
Back in April I sent through a photograph of the Patchwork Farm playmat completed just before parts three and four came out. Holidays and other commitments have intervened since then, so completing the rest of the KAL took longer than anticipated – the small animals are easy to knit but fiddly to finish properly. All eyes and other additional facial features are embroidered rather than using tiny safety eyes, buttons or beads as this is intended for a small child. The cow spots were done using intarsia instead of Swiss darning with each side spot slightly different, plus another just above the tail for realism. The cockerel now has a pair of crocheted wattles under its beak, with the crest also crocheted as it worked better than my knitted version and gave a better shape. It has been a pleasure to knit, and will be going to a good home.

BUTTON IT UP
I thought you’d like to see the cardi I knitted from issue 237. I used a raspberry colour with swirly pink and white buttons but didn’t realise I required seven! Never mind, a trip back to my supplier for one more…

Oh no! At least it was a good excuse to buy some more yarn while you were there.
SK SUPERFAN
I’ve attached a couple of photos of items I’ve made recently from Simply Knitting. The first is modelled by my granddaughter who loves her striped Rowan jumper. The second is one (Verona) that I crocheted from the Rowan supplement booklet I received with my magazine subscription.

A QUEEN’S BEST FRIEND
At Christmas I knitted Queen Elizabeths for my daughter Laura and my daughter-in-law Claire and you very kindly published my photo of them with their Queenies. At the time I said I should find a pattern to knit a corgi which I managed to do, and have since knitted corgis to g
