YOU WILL NEED
■ West Yorkshire Spinners Exquisite 4ply (80% wool, 20% mulberry silk, 100g/400m), 1 skein of Bloomsbury (1131)
■ A pair of 4mm needles
TENSION
15 sts and 28 rows to measure 10x10cm (4x4in) over main patt using 4mm needles
MEASUREMENTS
Wingspan 156cm (61.5in) Depth 62cm (24.5in)
ABBREVIATIONS
CR2L Slip 2 sts purlwise to RH needle, dropping the extra wraps. Lift first slipped st over the second st and slip both sts back to LH needle. Knit each st ensuring they remain in the new crossed position K3w Insert RH needle knitwise into next st, wrap yarn 3 times around RH needle and finish st as normal, counts as one stitch

SIMPLE LACE SHAWL
Note The shawl is worked in two halves. If you have more yarn and would like a bigger shawl, weigh the yarn before casting on, work until you have half the yarn remaining then start Part 2.

Cast on 4 sts using 4mm needles. Knit 1 row.
PART 1 (INCREASE SECTION)
Commence garter stitch.
Row 1 (RS) Sl 1 wyif, K1, yo, K2. [5 sts] Row 2 and all following WS rows Sl 1 wyif, knit to end.
Row 3 Sl 1 wyif, K2, yo, K2. [6 sts] Row 5 Sl 1 wyif, K3, yo, K2. [7 sts] Row 7 Sl 1 wyif, knit to last 2 sts, yo, K2. [1 st inc’d] Cont working in garter stitch increasing 1 st as established on every RS row for a total of 20 rows, ending with a WS row. [14 sts]
Commence main increase pattern.
Row 1 (RS) Sl 1 wyif, knit to last 2 sts, yo, K2. [1 st inc’d] Row 2 (WS) Sl 1 wyif, knit to end.
