VIKING PLAYSET

Notes Unless otherwise specified, use the cable cast on for all pieces and use mattress stitch to sew seams.

• Work most pieces flat on single-pointed needles, not in the round.

• The DPNs are used to knit i-cord rails on the top of the longship, and the crochet hook to crochet single chains for the collars.

• To mark stitches, use lockable stitch markers, or thread a waste piece of yarn through the stitch to be marked and knot loosely so it can be removed later.

• Harald is the bearded Viking with an Axe, and Hilda has the Shield.

• The dragon head and tail on the longship use short rows for shaping, and the wraps and turns prevent holes forming at the ends of the short rows. Pick up the wraps and work them tog with wrapped sts as you encounter them later.

VIKING BODY AND HEAD (MAKE 1 EACH FOR HARALD & HILDA)
