We spoke to Milly Luxford, Volunteer and Community Lead at the Naval Children’s Charity about their good work…

Charity

Naval Children’s Charity Established 1825 What do you do?

The Naval Children’s Charity provides financial and holistic support for children and young people in need. We help children up to and including the age of 25 with a parent that is serving or who has served in the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, their Reserves and the RFA. Our life chances programme offers opportunities such as our partnership with the Tall Ships Youth Trust where our Naval young people board sponsored voyages enabling them to achieve their RYA Competent Crew Certificate and contribute towards the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award.

What can knitters do to help? Two of our most popular free books are aimed at young children struggling with the deployment of a parent. These books come with knitted characters for the children to help express how they are feeling. If any knitters could help by knitting some sets of rabbits or penguins we would be incredibly grateful.
