STAR LETTERHAPPY 80TH PHYLLIS!

Emma’s tribute to her grandma, Phyllis is a fabulous poem!

My grandma turned 80 this May. She is an avid knitter, knitting for charity, neighbours, family and friends. I want to commemorate her on her 80th birthday in the best way possible through her favourite magazine so I wrote a poem.

Grandma’s 80th Birthday Poem

To Grandma Phyllis, at eighty so bright, A beacon of love, a guiding light. With needles in hand, she knits with care, Threads of warmth, woven everywhere.

In stitches and loops, a tapestry unfolds, A life well-lived, stories to be told. A parent to me, through thick and thin, Your love, like yarn, wraps us all in.

Knitting not just scarves, but bonds so true, For neighbours, friends, and charity too. You taught me the art, a gift so fine, A cherished skill, a timeless line.

With patterns galore, from toys to wreaths, She buys more wool, laughter beneath. Millions of balls, a whimsical store, Teasingly, “Do you need any more?”

In every stitch and loop, stories unfold, Of a grandma’s love, more precious than gold. Eight decades of wisdom, grace and cheer, Each birthday candle, a triumph sincere.

Happy 80th, Grandma, with love so vast, In the tapestry of life, you’re woven steadfast.

I have just completed the cardigan from the pull out of last month’s magazine. My sister saw it and said she just had to have it for her upcoming cruise to the Fjords. So I had to oblige by knitting it for her.

Janet Prescott

This is a cracking adaptation, Janet. Your use of variegated yarn has added another dimension to the pattern. Well done!

TASSEL-TASTIC!

Pattern from issue 248Alida has added the all-important detail with such care and precision!

I have just bought your magazine for the first time. I had just finished knitting myself a cardigan and found myself with plenty of yarn left over so when I saw your ‘Darling Denim’ jacket pattern I thought I would have just enough to make for my niece’s youngest daughter. I loved making it and the final result was excellent.

Alida Sunderland

You’ve used a lovely shade of blue Alida! Isn’t it a great feeling when we can useleftover yarn for a
