FABRICS USED

CUTTING OUT

Step one Download, print and cut out the templates. Step two From the main fabric cut: Front: one using template A Top: one using template B Back: one using template C Zip end: two 7x3cm (If the pattern of your fabric is directional, make sure the pattern has the correct orientation). Step three From the lining fabric cut: Inside front: one using template A Inside top: one using template B Inside back: one using template C Step four From the interfacing cut: Front backing: one using template A Top backing: one using template B Back backing: one using template C Step five Lay out the interfacing pieces shiny side up and lay the matching fabric piece on top, right-side (RS) up. Press to fuse following the manufacturers instructions.

ATTATCHING THE ZIP

Step one Take one of the Zip End strips and fold both short edges in by 1cm. Press in place. Now fold in half, so that the folded edges meet, RS out, press again. Repeat again with the second piece of fabric.

Step two At each end of the zip, tuck the zip inside the fold of one of the little tabs you made. Pin in place, then sew along the edge of the zip tab, roughly 2mm in, to hold the tabs in place. 02

Step three Now we can add the zip to pieces A and and B of our main fabric. Lay out piece A face-up with the straight edge at the top. Lay the zip face-down on top so its top edge lines up with the straight edge of the fabric. Clip (or pin) and then sew in place using a zipper foot on the machine and sewing approx 3mm from the zip’s teeth. 03

Step four Lay out the A/zip panel and fold the zip out so it is now face-up. Take piece B and lay this face-down on on top the zip so the curved edge of piece B lines up with the top edge of the zip. Clip and sew as before. 04

Step five Sew along the fabric on either side of the zip roughly 2-3mm from the zipper tape to keep the fabric out of the way of the zip teeth.

PREPARING THE STRAPS

Step one Cut the webbing into an 80cm and a 20cm length (this can be extended if required).
