GIFT BAGS

YOU WILL NEED

FOR A SET OF 3

■ 3 small picture panels, 18.7cm (h) x 13.5cm (w), from the Wintertale, Holiday Spirit panel

■ 20cm (h) x 50cm (w) patterned quilting weight fabric for backing

■ 40cm (h) x 50cm (w) plain off-white quilting weight fabric for lining

■ 20cm (h) x 30cm (w) quilting weight fabric for drawstring channels

■ 2.5m red and white bakers’ twine

■ One safety pin

■ Basic sewing kit

CUTTING OUT

Step one From Holiday Spirit panel, cut: 3 small panels Step two From lining fabric cut: Six 18.7cm (h) x 13.5cm (w) rectangles Step three From backing fabric cut: Six 18.7cm (h) x 13.5cm (w) rectangles Step four From drawstring channel fabric cut: Six 5cm (h) x 13.5cm (w) rectangles Step five From baker’s twine cut: Six 40cm lengths

CREATE DRAWSTRING CHANNELS

Step one Take drawstring channel rectangles and fold narrower edges over to the wrong side (WS) by 5mm twice, pin and sew along those edges. 01

Step two Fold each rectangle in half, right side (RS) out, so that the longer edges meet, and press.

CREATE THE BAGS

Step one Lay out the front panel pieces (portrait) and at the top edge of each place one of your folded drawstring channel pieces so the open edges lines up with the top edge. Make sure it is equidistant from the right and left edges. Place one of the lining pieces on top RS down, pin and sew along that top edge. Open out and press. 02

Step two Repeat for each of the front panel pieces and then also for the backing pieces.
