It's time to sew yourself some effortless style! This issue's cover star is a versatile button-down shirt with the length and shape of a dress. Choose your preferred length and whether you want to sew the peplum hem. You also get the choice to sew a belt for a define waist or wear it loose for a more relaxed and flowy silhouette.

YOU WILL NEED

Main fabric:

■ OPTION A Sizes 6-14: 2.8m of 140cm wide fabric. Sizes 16-24: 3.6m of 140cm wide fabric. Sizes 26-30: 4m of 140cm wide fabric.

■ OPTION B Sizes 6-14: 1.9m of 140cm wide fabric. Sizes 16-24: 2.6m of 140cm wide fabric. Sizes 26-30: 3m of 140cm wide fabric.

■ OPTION B Sizes 6-14: 2.7m of 140cm wide fabric. Sizes 16-24: 3.4m of 140cm wide fabric. Sizes 26-30: 3.8m of 140cm wide fabric.

■ Ten buttons (12-15mm) for Options A and C

■ Nine buttons (12-15mm) for Option B

■ 1mx15mm elastic for Options A and B

■ Matching thread

FABRIC SUGGESTIONS

■ Light to medium weight woven fabrics, such as: linen, cotton lawn, viscose, chambray, lightweight denim, cotton poplin.

FINISHED BACK LENGTHS

■ Option A: Approx. 106cm

■ Option B: Approx. 86cm

■ Option C: Approx. 102cm

NOTES

■ Pin or tack the main pieces together first to check the fit. Mark any alterations needed before starting to sew.

■ Stitch all seams with right sides together.

■ All seam allowances are 1.5cm unless otherwise stated.

■ Sleeve hems are 3cm for options A and B and 3.5cm for option C.

Change the l k with an optional belt, ruffle hem or patch pockets.
