“My life was pretty average. I had a normal working-class childhood growing up in Kent, I married young, worked for Boots and taught keep fit until I became a mum at 32 to my children William, now 21, and Grace, 19. We all lived in a farmhouse with our dog Louise and life was comfortable but nothing out of the ordinary. But when I was 42, things began to change.
“When my beloved nan died I was devastated, so I decided to visit the local spiritualist church where my mum had sometimes taken me as a teenager. The medium asked for my wedding ring before tuning in. ‘I’ve got a lady here who recently passed away. She says she’s sorry you couldn’t be there at the end.’ My mouth fell open in shock. We were on holiday in Mexico when we received the news that my nan had gone. ‘She wants you to thank Yvonne for her.’ The tears flowed then. Yvonne was the lady who had looked after my nan in the hospice where she had spent her final days.

“It was very different to the wishy washy readings I’d had as a teenager and I was totally blown away. I started visiting the spiritualist church regularly to sit in circle with a medium. I wasn’t brilliant at bringing in spirit but I enjoyed tuning into other people’s energy and that psychic connection.
“I joined their group meditations and meditating became my passion. I was so drawn into connecting that time would fly by and I’d often meditate at the bottom of the garden for hours. My guides started coming through at this time.

“Next, I discovered Reiki healing and trained to Reiki Master level as I wanted to teach my nieces how to do it. I started offering Reiki healing sessions from home.
“Then one night about three weeks later, when my husband was working away thankfully, I sat bolt upright in bed and started babbling in this strange dialect. It just flowed out of me. ‘What on earth was that?’ I wondered.
