THE WELSH Railway centenary celebrations went ahead Highland on June 23-25 without their headline act, following the lastminute withdrawal of Baldwin ‘No. 590’ from the line-up.

Organised as a joint venture between the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways and the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway, the event celebrated the 100th anniversaries of both the opening of the original WHR throughout from Dinas to Porthmadog, and the arrival of the original No. 590 on the railway.
